How long does a custom engagement ring take? Usually three to four weeks

A jeweller's hands at a bench with a vice, wooden peg, jewellery parts and tools.

A custom engagement ring from ENBOM DIAMONDS usually reaches you in Australia three to four weeks after you order. Production is 21 days from payment to dispatch. Before any metal is cast, you see and approve the 3D model. If you have a fixed date, allow room for your own decisions too.

What does the three-to-four-week estimate cover?

The three-to-four-week estimate runs from ordering your ring to receiving it in Australia. It covers the design and production process as well as the journey to you. An unusual stone or extra rounds of changes can add time.

Inside that window, production takes 21 days from payment to dispatch, once you have approved the 3D model.

You can discuss an idea and get a quote before paying anything. Send me a photo, a link or a description of what you have in mind, and I can tell you whether a piece inspired by your reference can be made. The quote gives you the price before you decide to order; it remains valid for 14 days.

What happens between the first message and delivery?

A custom ring has two payments and one approval that matters especially for timing: your approval of the 3D model. The first payment is USD 200 toward the total price, rather than a charge on top of it. The balance comes later, after you have reviewed the model.

StepWhat happensWhat needs your attention
Enquiry and quoteYou send a photo, link or idea. I discuss what can be made and give you a free quote.Check the design and price before deciding to order. The quote is valid for 14 days.
Design paymentYou pay USD 200 as the first part of the ring’s total price. This payment is refundable until work on the model starts; it is kept once that work has been done.
3D modelThe workshop makes a model for you to review. Three revisions are included.Look at the shape, proportions and details, and request changes before approving it.
Approval and balanceYou approve the model and pay the remaining balance, due within 7 days of the invoice. No metal is cast before your approval.
ProductionThe workshop casts, sets and polishes the ring in Shenzhen. Production is 21 days from payment to dispatch.I can visit the workshop, inspect the work and tell the jeweller what needs correcting.
Photos and dispatchWe send photos of the finished ring before it leaves Shenzhen. You see the finished piece before it is sent.
DeliveryThe ring is delivered to Australia. Delivery, import duties and GST are included in the quoted price. You pay nothing on delivery.

The model is your chance to catch a detail that matters to you before casting begins. Three revisions are included; each further revision costs USD 50 and is added to the balance invoice. There are still only two payments: the design payment and the balance.

I work directly with workshops and stone suppliers in Shenzhen and choose the stone for a piece myself. Casting, setting and polishing happen in one workshop. I can go there to look at the work at any stage. Before dispatch, the finished-piece photos show you the ring itself rather than only the approved model.

When do the 21 days of production begin?

Production is 21 days from payment for the piece to dispatch. By that point, you have approved the 3D model and paid the balance. The USD 200 design payment comes earlier in the process, so the production figure should not be read as 21 days from that first payment.

The distinction matters when you are planning around a proposal or trip. A model waiting for your answer has not been approved, and casting cannot start. Once you approve it and pay for the piece, the workshop can proceed with production. Dispatch marks the end of that 21-day period; receiving the ring in Australia is the end of the usual three-to-four-week order timeframe.

If a date matters, tell me at the first enquiry rather than after model approval. I can then discuss the proposed ring and its timing with that date in view. I would not treat the production figure alone as an arrival date.

What can make a custom ring take longer?

Model revisions can move the date because the workshop needs your approval before it casts the ring. Three rounds of changes are included, but the number of included revisions is a pricing term, not a promise that every model will be approved on the third round. Take the time to check it properly, especially if the ring’s proportions or setting differ from your reference.

Your decisions can affect the schedule too. A quote awaiting an answer, a choice of stone still open, or a model you have not reviewed can hold up the next step. If you are choosing between options, tell me what you like about each one. That gives us something specific to settle before the model is approved.

A particular stone may need to be sourced for the piece. Natural stones, and requested shapes or sizes, are subject to availability. I choose stones in person, but I cannot give one extra number of days that would fit every request. If the stone is central to the design, it is better to raise that preference when you first ask for a quote. The question of which laboratory report comes with a centre stone is separate from the ring’s timing.

Changing the design after model approval can also mean revisiting work that was already agreed. If you notice something in the model, say so then. The point of seeing it before casting is to make those decisions while changes can still be made at that stage.

Can a custom engagement ring be made faster?

The production period is 21 days from payment to dispatch, so I would not plan on shortening it to meet a date. The part you can influence is how promptly you settle the design, review the model and pay the balance once it is invoiced. Prompt answers help the order move, but they do not turn the usual three-to-four-week timeframe into a guaranteed delivery date.

I also check the work in person at the workshop and tell the jeweller what to correct. I would rather give you a clear answer about a tight deadline than suggest that casting or setting can simply be hurried. If you already know the date you need the ring, include it with your first message.

When should you order for a particular date?

Count back four weeks from the date you need the ring, then give yourself additional time for your own decisions. Four weeks is the longer end of our usual order-to-delivery range. It is a planning point, not a deadline that guarantees arrival.

For a ring needed by 20 December 2026, four weeks back is 22 November 2026. Aim to order by about 22 November, and start the conversation earlier if you want room to consider the quote or revise the model. If the ring must be in your hands before a flight or another fixed event, plan around that earlier date rather than the day of the proposal.

Dates near Chinese New Year deserve extra room. Chinese New Year falls on 6 February 2027, according to the Hong Kong Government’s 2027 holiday notice, checked 27 September 2026. Workshop schedules in Shenzhen can be affected around the holiday. If you need a ring in late January or February, tell me the date before ordering so I can discuss the timing for that piece.

How is the wait different from buying a finished ring?

A finished ring in a shop has already been made. With a custom ring, you see a 3D model of your own design and can request up to three included revisions before any metal is cast. That approval step gives you a say in the finished shape, but it also requires a decision from you.

Our standard metal is 18ct gold (18K, 750), with 14ct gold available on request. The model and quote establish the details of your particular ring before production. A shop ring may suit you better if you need to try on and take home a finished piece immediately; custom work makes sense when you have time to review the design first.

When does a custom timeline not fit?

If you need a ring in under three weeks, a custom order does not fit that deadline. Production alone is 21 days from payment to dispatch, and the model must be approved before casting starts. I would tell you that before you pay the design payment. A finished ring already in stock is a more practical choice for a date that close.

This timeframe describes a new custom order delivered to Australia. It does not tell you how long a repair or alteration to a ring you already own would take. Import duties, GST and clearance charges for delivery to Australia are included in the price, so you pay nothing when the ring arrives. Import duty and GST on jewellery entering Australia explains how those charges work.

If your date allows for a custom order, send me a photo, a link or an idea, along with when you need the ring. I will work out a price before you pay anything. Get in touch.

Questions

Is the 21 days counted from my first payment?

The 21 days describes production from payment for the piece to dispatch, after you have approved the 3D model. Your first payment is the USD 200 design payment. For the whole order, a custom ring usually reaches you in Australia three to four weeks after you order. Allow more room if you have a fixed date.

Can I see the ring before it's sent?

Yes. We send you photos of the finished ring before it is dispatched from Shenzhen. Earlier, you also see and approve its 3D model before any metal is cast. The model lets you check the design; the later photos show the finished piece.

Does delivery to Australia add to the price?

Delivery to Australia is included in the quoted price. We carry the risk of loss or damage until the piece is delivered, and remake or refund in full if it is lost or damaged. Import duties and GST are included in the price too, so you pay nothing on delivery.

What if I want more than three changes to the model?

Three revisions of the 3D model are included. Each further revision costs USD 50 and is added to the balance invoice, rather than billed as a separate payment. Extra rounds can also affect when the ring is ready, so tell me what you want changed while we are still reviewing the model.
